Workshops

Soma Flow & Movement sessions are a space for self-exploration. They journey into and through the sensory landscape as we participate intimately with the NOW moment. Participating in the presence of our own being alongside the class. While we may be moving in the same energy direction, our unique imprint and expression will look different. We aren't contorting to a one-sized manuscript while embodying a different joint set-up. It is a personal attunement.

This is a somatic movement class with the 𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑌𝑜𝑔𝑎The nervous system likes options. We will move through different postures, with the time and space to discuss [and practice] variations that fuel you. NOTE: The pace is slow, but this does not mean that it is a YIN class. The workshop will safely contain both active and passive movements.

Who is this workshop for:

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 new to yoga or somatic movement, this is a less intimidating container to initiate yourself. I will guide you in a way that is not one-size/linear but encourages collaboration with your attention and sensory feedback. It is accessible because we fit the postures to what we need -at the moment.

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 experienced in yoga or somatic movement, this workshop may complement your existing practices by widening the angles of what is available. Often, there isn’t time in an hour-long class to provide a student with alternative flow or positioning, so you either feel you miss out or even recklessly contort yourself into a single-sized pose.

Soma Flow Dance breathes the same essence with more rhythm. These sessions are not for engagement with others on the 'dance floor.'  This is a journey of tuning into and engaging with ourselves in a supportive space together. *Personal engagement on the floor is removed entirely. There's something profound about moving into the space of ourselves alongside others doing the same thing. Without reaching out, we feel seen and supported through our peripheral network.

The Set up We will begin the workshop by soft tuning in and then move into practicing various body movement explorations together. These explorations will be different forms of standing flow and movements close to the ground. We may incorporate personal sound into some of our explorations [only what feels resonate]. 30 minutes of free-flow dance before we surrender into a 15-minute savasana. The last 30 minutes are free to be quiet in your own space to integrate or connect in casual, light-hearted dialogue, during which we may share anything about the experience.

The Music I will use a variety of music, in no particular relational sequence, to help guide us into forgotten pockets of our moving vernacular. I recognize that music is so personal that each genre/style has its unique sensory feedback in the body. Various sound reflections may act as a conduit to free up space in the soma. It is like having access to many props in a yoga class, where we can bring the yoga to us and not us to a one-sized version of 'Yoga.'

Who is this for? This workshop is perfect for folks who have an inner desire for dance movement yet would like guidance to help unlock or unbind the flow within. This workshop could complement ecstatic dance workshops as a prerequisite or alternative form that may resonate more with a particular nervous system or desire.

Partner Soma Flow

This 3.5-hour workshop is a perfect date night with a partner or friend!

Partner Soma Flow is back in September with Ashley Simran [with Sonoro Love] co-facilitating.

I have studied and worked with the body for 14+ years through various somatic modalities.

While we acknowledge the importance of self-sustainment, the intimate practice of safe co-regulation can be a potent source of therapeutic harmony.

This 3.5-hour play workshop will allow us to reconnect with ourselves through attunement with one another while learning some fabulous bodywork techniques along the way.
